COTTONWOOD, AZ — Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance (NAZCCA) is joining with the Sierra Club to sponsor “Power in Transition: Navigating Local Energy Resilience in Arizona,” with Erin Mahan and Stephen Cook at 12:00 pm on September 6, 2025 at Cottonwood Library, 100 S. 6th Street in Cottonwood, AZ.

Erin Mahan is Vice President of Membership and Regulatory Affairs at SunSpec Alliance and a Board member of NAZCCA.  Mehan will provide an informational overview of financial incentives currently available, focusing on EVs, heat pumps, solar, and induction stoves.  She will address the future of distributed energy, using the examples of IKEA’s new plug-in balcony solar system and other policy innovations in the US.  Stephen Cook is Vice-Chair of Sierra Club Yavapai Group and NAZCCA volunteer.  Cook will focus on Community Choice Energy (CCE ), in which people band together—or aggregate— to increase their marketing clout, save money, and address unmet community needs.  The program will conclude with a Q & A session.

    No Home Rule

Home Rule allows the city government, Staff with limitations, and Council to spend any money they have on any project they want without regard to voter input.
