Celebrate the 45th anniversary of David Lynch’s masterpiece with new 4K restoration
Sedona, AZ — The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the “The Elephant Man” showing May 31 and June 1 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
This special limited engagement celebrates of the 45th anniversary of “The Elephant Man” and is a beautiful new 4K restoration of the original camera negative, overseen by director David Lynch himself. The film is the first in a series running throughout the summer honoring the late director.
“The Elephant Man” features an award-winning, all-star cast, including Anthony Hopkins, John Hurt and Anne Bancroft. The film was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Dr. Frederic Treves (Anthony Hopkins) discovers John Merrick (John Hurt) in a sideshow. Born with a congenital disorder, Merrick uses his disfigurement to earn a living as the “Elephant Man.” Treves brings Merrick into his home, discovering that his rough exterior hides a refined soul, and that Merrick can teach the stodgy British upper class of the time a lesson about dignity. Merrick becomes the toast of London and charms a caring actress (Anne Bancroft) before his death at 2
“The Elephant Man” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Saturday, May 31 at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m.
