Yavapai County News – Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announced that on May 5, 2025, Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Krista Carman sentenced Darrell Ray Lavery a.k.a. Darrell Ray Bragg, Jr., 25, of Paulden, Arizona, to 20 years in prison to be followed by five consecutive lifetime sex-offender probation terms. Lavery previously plead guilty to Sexual Conduct with a Minor, Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor, and four counts of Luring a Minor for Sexual Exploitation, all Dangerous Crimes Against Children.

Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane commended the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (“YCSO”) and the Prescott Police Department for an excellent investigation into the crimes. Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane stated, “Adults who prey on children have no place in Yavapai County. My office will aggressively prosecute adults who choose to victimize children. I hope the lengthy sentence in this case will deter others from sexualizing children.”

The investigation by YCSO and the Prescott Police Department revealed that in June of 2020, Lavery committed a number of sexual offenses against a 14-year-old child in a local hotel after the child had been provided alcohol for the first time. Afterwards, while in jail on another matter, Lavery called the child multiple times and acknowledged her young age, discussed some of the things he had done to her and made plans for similar conduct upon his release.
