Yavapai CollegePrescott AZ (May 5, 2020) – Yavapai College is pleased to announce that it will release its 2020 Commencement ceremony virtually on Saturday, May 9 on the College’s website.

The ceremony will honor 1,470 candidates from the entire college district in one comprehensive presentation.

The ceremony will be available beginning at 10 a.m., and because the ceremony is virtual, it can be viewed at any day or time after the launch date.

The ceremony was created by the YC Film and Media Arts program and the Performing Arts Center and includes many of the same features that a traditional ceremony would.

    Speakers for the ceremony include:

    • Dr. Lisa Rhine, College President
    • Dr. Diane Ryan, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Interim Vice President of Instruction
    • Dr. Jennifer Jacobson, Faculty Senate President
    • Ms. Deb McCasland, District Governing Board Chair
    • Ms. Jessica Zieran, Prescott Area Student Speaker
    • Mr. Kenneth Froessel, Verde Valley Area Student Speaker

To help make spring 2020 YC Commencement even more memorable, YC student ambassadors solicited photos and videos from graduates for a celebration video – separate from the virtual ceremony. The approximately 15-minute video will be shared on YC social media channels and posted on the college’s commencement web page. Watch for the video postings later this week.

Graduates who missed getting photos and videos submitted for the video are welcome to still share photographic and video memories and messages with YC social media followers. Just use the hashtag #2020ycgrad on your posts. Invite your friends and family members to post to the that hashtag, too, and enjoy the accolades coming your way.

A digital program as well as other commencement related information will also be available online at the time of the ceremony release and can be found at www.yc.edu/commencement2020.
