    “Walkin’ on Main” Celebration Kicks Off This Weekend

    The City of Cottonwood celebrates the heart of Arizona wine country with the 12th Annual “Walkin’ on Main” on November 13th, 2021. The Verde Valley Wine Consortium, as well as art exhibits, retail vendors, a car show and live music will accompany the charming galleries, shops, and local restaurants of Old Town Cottonwood. Walkin’ on Main features a wine tasting garden courtesy of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium, a car show courtesy of the Mingus Union High School Auto Club, and live music throughout the day. This is a free, family-friendly, event for all.

Member wineries pouring at this years Walkin’ on Main are local to the Verde Valley. They will be sharing with you some newly released wines along with some of their very special library wines.     The Walkin’ on Main  Car Show takes place on Main St. in Old Town Cottonwood amongst the backdrop of the Black Hills, Dead Horse State Park, and much more. The show provides participants and event attendees great photo opportunities and a chance for good ol’ fashion car talk. See some of the state’s most unique cars, trucks and more at the Walkin’ on Main’s car show.

    PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
    Do you have a unique vehicle you want to register? Cost to participate in the Car Show is $20 per car. A majority of the proceeds benefit the Mingus Union High School Hot Rod Club. Registration opens around the end of summer.

    Following your registration, an email will be sent to you as a receipt that includes YOUR OFFICIAL SHOW NUMBER. This is your ticket into the event. Please print and bring with you for entry.

    Walkin’ on Main started as a way to celebrate the Verde Valley’s unique culture, history, and wine. Since its inception, it has grown in size and appeal and now showcasing a variety of local and regional artists, vendors and wineries.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
