2020 Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival
    Volunteer Opportunities for All

logo_friendsoftheverderiverCottonwood AZ (September 14, 2019) – Friends of the Verde River (Friends) is excited to begin preparations for the 2020 Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival being held at Dead Horse Ranch State Park April 23  – 26, 2020. This annual festival provides a unique recreational experience to anyone interested in the natural world and fosters awareness of the importance of habitat for the enrichment of all life in the Verde Valley.

Each year more than 100 dedicated volunteers come out to welcome visitors, host workshops, and coordinate the details for the festival. Please join us for our kick-off planning meeting Wednesday, September 19 from 4:00 -7:00 PM at the Cottonwood Public Library. This is a great opportunity to meet volunteers that have been work on the festival for its 20 years and other new comers and find out how you can be part of this wonderful event. To register for the volunteer kick off meeting email or call Laura Jones at LauraJ@VerdeRiver.org or (928) 451-6860.

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
