… two days in a row on the lake and thousands of great shots … also two successive days of being up at 2:45AM to make it down there and be on the water before the sun comes up over the mountains to the east … life really happens down there in the early morning hours before everyone including us is off the water and seeking shelter, shade and cool by 9:30 AM.

The juvenile eagles that just fledged a few weeks ago are still hanging out together and the adults are more or less overseeing the activities of the kids. I got the shot of one of them above early this morning … she flew a little way up the ridgeline to join her sister and dad … check those talons out!

Below is a shot of a Great Egret flying directly at me with a fish in his beak that he had just scooped up … there were dozens of them having breakfast as we just drifted taking it all in. The water was totally flat and inviting!

O World of green and shafts of golden sun; of
nightly, silent, silver moonlight; and the strange
songs of lisping winds! O time of dreams, and trysts,
and olden memories come to life! Sweet summer, may
I sing as thou, for every leaf of thine is pregnant with
music in the soft winds, and every rose inspires the
tenderness of song. I yield myself to the thousand
enchantments of sky and field and wood, and play again
like a child on the soft green of the earth. And as the
God of the universe has made thee to bloom in tenderness,
so also may my heart be softened, and the
gardens of my life be made to bloom again.

A Prayer of Summer, by Max Ehrmann
