… before moving on to other subjects I want to finish the F-35C series with a look at the belly of this amazing beast! You can see the scoop open on the top of the aircraft and directly below the plane under the scoop are the vanes which direct the airflow and they show up as nearly closed … in the back of the plane the covers for the jet exhaust are open and the nozzle is pointed pretty much straight back. The doors that cover each have a jagged line in the front end of the closures which likely reduce the drag of the airplane when they are closed as opposed to straight line doors. What a magnificent machine and very happy they are on your side.
The photo below shows a Great Blue Heron just entering flight after leaving his perch on top of a buoy in the lake … elegantly quiet as it goes about its daily life, surviving and moving through the quiet air.
My youngest daughter and her daughters are visiting this week, so many adventures waiting to be lived beginning in the morning … stay tuned!
