    … as the warm weather continues, I remain inside much of the time going through and organizing the portfolio, working on unfinished gem cutting projects and just in general enjoying each day … and I’m making a lot of progress on all fronts!

    The shot above is of a crow in the backyard (actually the golf course) rising from a branch in a tree but giving the impression that he is conducting a large orchestra … the maestro. There was a time when we first moved into our home that we had ravens running the neighborhood, but the crows moved in years ago and displaced the ravens. Crows are super smart and skills … also a long-term memory and the ability to pass down information about people for generations … Click here to read more about them.

    Below is a shot of a pair of wigeons taking off from a fishpond at Bubbling Springs Hatchery in Page Springs. The past several years there have not been that many birds down there even during migration … they’ll be back, just don’t know when. Reminds me of the many early mornings back in Minnesota when we would be duck hunting and working sloughs and ponds early morning, jump shooting them. Eventually I gave up the hunting as my preferences for meat switched to beef … I still prefer a good burger to all but the best of steaks!

    Into a fresh week … keep breathing and keep smiling … be kind.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Work as if thy task were made for thee;
    Be strong as if thou hadst courage,
    And charitable as if thou hadst been rewarded;
    Remain poor if riches are dishonorable,
    And carry poverty with the dignity of virtue.
    When others dine sumptuously, eat thy crust;
    Let love be thy guide and justice thy God—
    Not for thyself alone, but for all men.
    Pursuing these things you will be misjudged
    And in the gloaming of thy days, forgotten;
    Then, uncomplaining, lie thou down at eve,
    Cheered by the love in thy heart.
    And by the full-grown soul of thy charity;
    Then hast thou won the heroic battle,
    Yet not stained the sweet earth with blood;
    But in the garden of love and sacrifice,
    Hast thou planted serenely growing flowers,
    That shall still blow when thou dost slumber
    In the shadow-land of dreamless sleep.

    Home Rule allows the city government, Staff with limitations, and Council to spend any money they have on any project they want without regard to voter input.
