… the last few days have been filled with so many joys and new experiences that it will take me a while to fully absorb…everything from the delicate balance of the San Francisco Bay, salinity of the water and impact on everything else (thank you Chris and Carol) check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Army_Corps_of_Engineers_Bay_Model and  http://bay.org for more on the Bay Model and more.

After we left the Bay Model in Sausalito and a nice lunch on the water we visited the place where a wooden tall ship is under construction, check it out at: . They began construction about six months ago and the keel has been laid and for a modest donation you can walk around in there and the guys working on it take the time to talk to you … very cool!

This was just the first day … then there are the Humpback Whales making the migration off shore, the magic of the ocean, the hills and the marine layer. Walks along the beach, a birthday party for Annika, now twelve years old, lunch and decadent ice cream in Walnut Creek, church at the Mariners Church and a trip to Filoli Gardens and all the beauty to be found there.. And there were all the wonderful people I met on the trip … life is good … very good! A very packed three days and it is good to be home … One is happy too … she had it very good whilst I was gone though.

The moon is currently being covered with earth’s shadow a reminder of the vastness of space and our tiny place in the overall scheme of things. It is a beautiful orange color and I know a number of my friends are out in black sky places shooting it, I just sat for a while and enjoyed the beauty of it and will also enjoy the images my friends capture. I took this image along the beach in Half Moon Bay late afternoon of the beach, cliffs and the fabulous Ritz Carlton at Half Moon. I love the ocean and the walks along the beach, the time at sea … :+)

Let that soft warm feeling bubble up inside you and smile ….

    Cheers

At nightfall…though I know I shall sometime no more
Open my eyes to the light or day, I am one who looks at stars when
Unchained from the work-bench at Nightfall.
They are a sign that I am not ephemeral,
Not you, nor you, whoever you are.
The dawn comes and the dark and the sign sparkling in the brooding night,
    Forever and forever.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
