Today’s Photo from Ted Grussing Photography: … a drink before the heat of day

… looking back to earlier this year on a cool morning on Lake Pleasant, we were just heading up Castle Hot Springs Bay and these three donkeys were at the shore taking on a load of water before the day heated up … they area pleasure to watch and especially when they decide to play and are romping along the shoreline.

Below is a photograph of a Cattle Egret perched on a tree limb rising from the lake … these two photos were taken on June 13th of this year when the water level was about 26 feet higher than it currently is … a large bath tub ring now surrounds the perimeter of the lake and it will remain so until next February or March when they again begin storing our allotment of Colorado River water in it.

A benefit for shooting now is that there is so much less water in the lake that the fish are more concentrated and hopefully this will attract more birds. The fall migration is underway and billions of birds are headed to their wintering grounds. Mostly the birds migrate at night because the atmosphere is more stable, convective activity has stopped and the moon and stars provide navigational aid to the traveling hoards!

It is estimated that tonight 392,000,000 birds will be in the air over the USA as they migrate south – contrast that with the 2,900,000 humans flying in USA airspace today!

Have a beautiful day as we head into the new week … there is so much more to life than mobile devices and social media … explore the real world!

Keep breathing, smile and enjoy the people you meet and greet each day!

    Cheers,

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
