logo_sedonabookfestivalSedona AZ (August 22, 2013) – After a year’s hiatus, the Sedona Book Festival returns on Saturday, October 5, bigger and better than ever. The fourth Sedona Book festival will be held at Yavapai College in Sedona, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, with over 100 local, regional and national authors, publishers, organizations and others exhibiting all things books and book-related.

The Sedona Book Festival is sponsored by The Well Red Coyote bookstore and by Yavapai College, with net proceeds going to the Yavapai College Foundation.

photo_annehillermanThis year’s festival will feature several national bestselling and nationally prominent authors who will make presentations throughout the day, culminating with keynote speaker Anne Hillerman, daughter of the late and legendary Southwest mystery writer, Tony Hillerman.

The festival day will begin with coffee with Pat Sinclair, author of Scandinavian Classic Baking and Scandinavian Classic Desserts. Sinclair is a food consultant and recipe developer/tester for such food conglomerates as Land O’Lakes, General Mills and Pillsbury. She also was the recipe editor for two Pillsbury Classic Cookbooks and a Land O’Lakes cookbook.

Local photographer, Harvey Stearn, author of In Search of the Old West, will share Southwest/West photographs, including landscapes, wildlife, ruins & relics, rodeos and Native American images. He’ll also discus his digital photography techniques.

There will also be a special panel discussion of what’s new in fantasy, romance, mystery, westerns and other genres, with three bestselling authors participating and moderated by local favorite, Kris Neri.

    • National bestselling author, Jennifer Ashley, who also writes under the names Allyson James and Ashley Gardner, writes paranormal romances, Regency romances, urban fantasies, and Regency mysteries.

    • Cathy McDavid, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, writes romances with a Western theme.

    • Darrell James is an award winning short story and mystery novelist. His first mystery, Nazareth Child, won the Eureka Award for Best First Novel from Left Coast Crime.

    • Kris Neri writes the Tracy Eaton mysteries and the Samantha Brennan & Annabelle Haggerty magical mysteries. Kris’s novels have been finalists for such prestigious awards as the Agatha, Anthony, Macavity, and Lefty Awards; she is a three-time Lefty Award finalist. Her latest novels include Revenge on Route 66 and Magical Alienation, a 2012 New-Mexico-Arizona Book Award winner.

Keynote speaker, Anne Hillerman will be debuting Spider Woman’s Daughter, the continuation of the Joe Leaphorn/Jim Chee mystery series of her famous father, Tony Hillerman.

She is also the author of the award-winning Tony Hillerman’s Landscape: On the Road with Chee and Leaphorn and eight other books. Together with husband/photographer Don Strel, she has recently finished a project with the University of New Mexico Press—an introduction and new photographs for a re-issue of Tony Hillerman’s book of non-fiction essays, The Great Taos Bank Robbery. In more than twenty years as a journalist, she has worked as editorial page editor for the Albuquerque Journal North and the Santa Fe New Mexican, and as an arts editor for both papers.

The Sedona Book Festival is free to the general public, with ample free parking and food/beverage service available for attendees.
