    Sedona Parks and Recreation Offers Tennis Lessons

    City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (May 31, 2013) – Summer, sunshine and tennis! It is time to hit the tennis courts at Sedona’s community parks and learn how to play this sport. The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to be working with tennis professional Jeffrey Cooper to provide a quality tennis program for beginners of all ages.

    Classes take place on the tennis courts at Posse Grounds Park on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Private and group lessons can be scheduled to work with your busy schedule. Classes will be held throughout the summer and possibly into the fall.

    For more information on class times and prices, please contact the Parks and Recreation office at 282-7098 or reference the tennis webpage at www.SedonaAZ.gov/Parks, which also has the instructor’s biography.

    Class times are arranged with the instructor but payments for tennis lessons are accepted through the Parks and Recreation office at 102 Roadrunner at Sedona City Hall or over the phone by calling 282-7098. We hope to see you on the courts!

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
