Is it Juliette’s, her son’s girlfriend? Poupi’s, her teenage daughter? Another woman in her husband’s life? Does her other son actually have girlfriends?

Whatever the answer, this is not good news. The family’s harmony is hilariously interrupted.

“With a sharp eye, spirited dialogue and situation comedy, the director and his co-screenwriter, Noé Debré, shake up the usual tropes.” — Telerama (France)

“Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud once again proves his true talent in the domain of French comedy. His pacing is without peer, while his artful manipulation of quid pro quo is as light and appealing as chocolate mousse.” — L’obs (France)

“Hidden behind the plot is a moving, joyful film that will have you reflecting on the fear of being alone and the myth of the perfect parent. Yet it never grows preachy, and portrays a family with whom we can all easily identify.” — Cnews (France)

“The Test” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre July 29-Aug. 3. Showtimes will be 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Wednesday, July 29, 30 and Aug. 3; and 7 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, July 31 and Aug. 1.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination.
