    Sedona Arts AcademySedona AZ (June 23, 2021) – Sedona Arts Academy (SAA) announces Open Mic Night which is taking place bi-weekly on Sundays from 6:00pm- 10:00pm. So, come out, get up on stage, or cheer from the crowd. We’ve reserved the microphone for you to test or perform songs, poetry, and stories in front of an audience, getting instant feedback. Or, just come out to support those who are exploring and expressing themselves creatively. The next Open Mic is taking place July 4th and 18th, 2021and tickets are at $10. bit.ly/SAA-open-mic-weekly

    Sedona Arts Academy (SAA) announces Paint Night with Phyllis Anglin on Thursday, July 8, 2021, 4:30pm – 6:30pm. This Paint class is hosted by local artist Phyllis Aglin; she will be guiding you through her paint-along system where you’ll create a beautiful painting, ready to display in your home.     Sedona Arts Academy (SAA) announces Giangi’s Kitchen Live Presentation Tastes of Summer on Sunday, July 11th, 2021, 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Join Chef Giangi’s as she shares light summertime favorites from her family on a night of fundraising. The menu will include two appetizers (tomato bruschetta w/ crostini and sun-dried tapenade), two entrées (rice salad with or without chicken and quiche Lorraine), and last but not least two desserts (Lemon Tart and Apple Pie). Chef Giangi will be demonstrating how you too can prepare delicious light meals from Italy and France. Get your ticket today! We sold out during our Argentina night earlier this year. Don’t Wait!     Sedona Arts Academy (SAA) announces Salsa Night with Dana on Monday’s starting July 12, 2021, 7:00pm – 8:00pm through August 16th. Dana De Luz leads this Salsa 101 six-week series where you’ll learn and perfect at least 15 easy Salsa steps. Have fun while enjoying lively Latin music certain to get your hips moving! Each class will include a warm-up with Latin motion techniques and review of steps from the previous week. Then we’ll learn some new steps. Put on the music and shake those hips! Advanced registration is recommended for this event. For the Six Week Series the price is $120, or you can drop in for $30.http://bit.ly/SAA-salsa-mondays

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
