Sedona, AZ –The Sedona-Oak Creek Airport Authority is proud to announce that Sedona Airport General Manager, Ed Rose, has been named First Vice President of the Arizona Airports Association (AzAA). AzAA works with the FAA, ADOT and Arizona airports on a myriad of issues impacting airports of all sizes. Mr. Rose will be responsible for the organization’s policy development, by-laws, and conference planning.
Mr. Rose came to Sedona from New York where he has over 30 years in airport management. He was previously the Airport Director for the Hudson Valley Regional Airport and served on the New York Airport Management Board of Directors including as the NYAMA President.
He was instrumental in the design, construction, and certification of a new state-of-the-art fuel farm. He is in the middle of designing and funding a new and expanded fire-suppression water system. He also formed the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Airport and has encouraged Sedona aerial tour operators to participate in a Fly-Friendly Agreement.
These initiatives have increased airport safety, will allow expansion of commercial endeavors on the airport as well as fund the maintenance and future development of the airport per FAA policy. His expansion of community engagement has drastically decreased noise complaints and increased trust among the local community that the Airport is in good hands.
SOCAA President ,Pam Fazzini, stated:
“Ed wasted no time upon his hiring as Sedona Airport General Manager in 2019. He brought decades experience, leadership, and energy to bear on a number of critical issues. The SOCAA Board joins the aviation community in congratulating Ed Rose as the new Vice President of AzAA and expects that he will bring the same energy and enthusiasm to his new duties as he has to his daily duties running the Sedona Airport.”

Hired to monetize the airport mesa location and views-a property they don’t own. All in favor of the airport as an airport-not as a destination site/entertainment venue…
I’ve been flying into the Sedona Airport since 1994. In 1998 I was part of a group that paid for and built corporate hangers.
I have been through many airport managers. Without a doubt this the best managed airport we have ever had. And since I fly to many many small airports west of the Mississippi I have to say that this is one of the best there is. City or county owned.
I have been on the airport board for a couple years now, so I have had the pleasure to see the workings from the inside, and not just as a user and a hanger owner.
The projects that were being done prior to my joining the board were noticeable as the airport must under FAA directives generate revenue form all airport assets, and that is a lot more that selling fuel.
Even though the airport is a 501c3, we still must make a profit as many of our capital improvement projects require matching funds from ADOT and the FAA as we are part of the national infrastructure just like federal and state highways.
Some of our projects are 100% on us. We like the city look for those grants from agencies where they apply, and unlike the city. the Sedona Fire District, the School district, Yavapai College and the County, we are NOT a taxing authority. We do it all on our own…like a business.
Thanks Ed for your continuing perseverance and hard work and managing a great team.
