Sedona News – The city of Sedona, in partnership with the Sedona Fire District and the Yavapai County Master Gardeners, will host two free workshops on Firewise and vegetation management on March 24 and March 25, 2025 at the Community Library Sedona at 3250 White Bear Rd.

    The two sessions are:

    • Monday, March 24, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Tuesday, March 25, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Firewise is a national program that helps communities and homeowners reduce their risk of wildfires. To help be more prepared in the event of a wildfire, residents should come learn about the Firewise program, recommended plants for your property, how to prepare your yard to be Firewise and how to create a defensible space around your home.

Attendees are encouraged to register. For more information and to register for the workshop, contact city of Sedona AmeriCorp VISTA Amy Wright at awrtight@sedonaaz.gov or 928-203-5115.

The Sedona Fire District is also planning a community meeting on the broader topic of wildfire in the Sedona area on April 2, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sedona Performing Arts Center on 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd. More information will be forthcoming on that event soon.
