    Sedona AZ (September 19, 2015) –

Buddy’s Story – Intake date of May 2015
20150919_hss_buddyMy name is Buddy and I am a twelve year old, neutered male. I am the quintessential older gentleman and am an ambassador of good will. It is part of my Labrador persona. My “loving heart is bigger than the moon”.   I have had a full life and never thought that I would get to a place where I did not have a real home. Life does have its challenges but I have been stoic in my pursuit of finding my final home. I like the HSS staff and the volunteers however . . . I miss the comforts of a home with a person to love. I have a gentle wisdom and you can see it in my eyes.

I adore going for small walks (I need the exercise) however a fenced in yard is good for me. I sometimes miss my HSS caretakers and I have been known to jump the fence to visit the shelter. Who would have thought that an old man like me could still jump?  Please come visit me. I promise you my heart!

Also, please come by and visit the shelter and see all the other wonderful dogs and cats that are available for adoption. It is a nice facility and I am sure you will enjoy your visit. The shelter is open seven days a week from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Also, PetSmart in Sedona is another available location to find your special cat that needs a forever home. Please call the Humane Society of Sedona at (928)282-4679 or log on to our website @ www.humanesocietyofsedona.org

    Analyzing City’s Legal Right to
    Ban OHVs on Public Roads

    By Tommy Acosta
Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Maxima Culpa! I screwed up. Blew it. Totally made a fool of myself. Missed the boat. I am talking about my editorial on the OHV fight, No Legal Traction on OHVs. I assumed that it was ADOT that would make a decision on whether the city could legally ban off road vehicles from our public roads like S.R. 89A and S.R. 179. Man was I off. ADOT has nothing to do with allowing or disallowing the city to do so. ADOT’s response to me when I asked them to clarify their position, was curt and to the point. “ADOT designs, builds and maintains the state highway system,” I was told. “It is not our place to offer an opinion on how state law might apply in this matter.” It was a totally “duh” moment for me when I realized that that the decision or judgement on the OHV ordinance, would involve the state and not ADOT. Chagrinned I stand. The crux of the matter then is whether the city can effectively use a number of standing state laws that can be interpreted to determine whether the city can legally ban the vehicles or not.
