logo_ycsoCottonwood AZ (July 7, 2018) – On July 4, 2018, around 6 pm, deputies were dispatched to a fire report in the 4400 block of Rebel Circle in Cottonwood. When deputies arrived, Cottonwood fire personnel had already extinguished the fire.

Deputies contacted the 27-year-old resident who admitted shooting fireworks at a glass table in the back yard. When some of the fireworks missed the table, they caught grass and pine needles on fire in his neighbor’s yard.  The fire also burned a portion of his yard. The resident was cited for Unlawful Violation of Fire Ban and released.

Overall, YCSO handled 12 related firework calls during the 4th of July with no significant fires. Several of the calls were unfounded. We truly appreciate the support of the community in honoring the currently imposed fire restrictions.
