logo_svacSedona AZ (July 21, 2019) – Working artists in the Verde Valley are opening their private home studios to visitors the weekend of October 25-27, 2019. This experiential self-guided event will be held during the culmination of fall leaves changing color in the beautiful Verde Valley; covering Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Cornville, and Sedona.   This event, sponsored by the Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition (SVAC), provides the perfect backdrop for a fall tour in Northern Arizona and is free to the public.

“This is an amazing opportunity to connect with Arizona artists and see a lot of their work at one time,” said Mike Upp, President of SVAC. “The wide range of styles and art forms is a testament to the thriving vitality of the arts community in the beautiful Verde Valley. The event showcases established and emerging talent, so it is an easy way for art enthusiasts to start an art collection.”

The artists truly enjoy demonstrating their creative processes as they share their workspaces and, more importantly, make a personal connection with visitors.   Beyond seeing the artist work hands-on, visitors have the chance to buy gorgeous, one-of-a-kind and locally produced artwork directly from the artist.

There will be over 45 artists – glass, ceramics, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, painting, drawing, digital art, photography, fiber, weaving and mixed media – participating in Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Cornville, Cottonwood, and Clarkdale area. Throughout the weekend, demonstrations of several different art forms will be taking place at various studios. The demonstration schedule is available at http://sedonaartistscoalition.org/os.html or, you can simply pick up a copy at any of the studios.

    A Bad Moon Rising

    By Tommy Acosta
What the hell is going on? Is the fabric of society in the U.S. tearing apart at the seams? Watching those videos of teens gone wild, smashing windows, stealing from shopping centers, laughing while running over bicyclists — an omen of things to come? What can be done? Catch them? Incarcerate them. Put them in jails until they learn enough about crime to come out as skilled criminals? These kids, these young men and women of color, are growing wild in the streets. From fatherless homes, unable to properly read or write, a dismal and destitute future ahead of them. What is going to happen when they reach adulthood? The cops can’t stop them. There are simply too many. They can flash mob a phalanx of cops and just run berserk around them. What are the police to do? Shoot them? Read more→
