    Come enjoy Winter Play Day

    Sedona News – Experience the magic of a crisp winter day in an imaginary candyland carnival on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Posse Grounds Pavilion. 

    Families and kids of all ages are invited to the city’s first-ever Winter Play Day. Attractions will include inflatables and rides, food trucks and interactive vendor displays. Youth performances will take place throughout the day at the Pavilion stage. Face painting, food and drinks will be available for purchase.

    Entry to Winter Play Day is free, but for children over six a $5 Unlimited Ride Pass will be required for most rides. Children ages five and under ride free. Passes can be purchased in advance, including group discount rates, at SedonaAZ.gov/RecEvents. 

    The day of the event, only cash will be accepted for the purchase of Unlimited Ride Passes at the main entrance. 

    Want to be a vendor at the event? The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for hot food, crafts, community building and family-friendly activity vendors. Submit a vendor application found here by Dec. 30, 2022.

    The Pavilion at Posse Grounds Park is located at 525 Posse Ground Rd., Sedona, AZ 86336. 

    Bundle up, this event is outdoors, snow or shine. Only ADA Service dogs are welcome at this event.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols

    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
