Yavapai County News – MATFORCE, an anti-drug organization with a focus on stopping youth drug use before it starts, held its annual Youth Poster Contest again this year to help raise awareness among youth about the risks of drug and alcohol abuse. Arizona News – No construction closures are scheduled on state highways over Memorial Day weekend, as the Arizona Department of Transportation focuses on both highway safety and keeping holiday traffic on the move. ADOT and its contractors will not schedule any full closures on the state highway system, including Phoenix-area freeways, from Friday afternoon, May 24, to late Monday night, May 27. Drivers should still allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching existing work zones. Verde Valley News – The Yavapai College District Governing Board (DGB) approved the College’s proposed budget for 2024-2025 today at its annual budget adoption meeting. The approved budget includes funding for the college’s strategic priorities, initiatives, and improved services for students and the community. For just the second time since 2019, the DGB approved an increase in primary property tax levy for Yavapai County residents. The approved increase is $1,872,400, or a 3.4% increase in the primary property tax levy.
