… Monday I spent some time at the ponds on my way back from Cottonwood and this time focused on getting some shots of the young fish in two of the ponds. I thought they were fingerlings, but one of the guys from Game and Fish let me know that these fish are called “subs.” Fingerlings are generally considered to be such when they are 4″ or less … “subs” are a little bigger starting around five to six inches and up … “sub” is short for sub legal … in other words, if you catch one you must release…

By David Stephen Sedona, AZ –The adoption of the pharmaceutical approach can be described as niche to AI safety. Pre-deployment testing and evaluation of OpenAI [o1], Anthropic [Claude 3.5 Sonnet] or others, only imply [circa] safety for those models, not general for AI. The misuses that are possible by AI tools across the internet [most times] may have nothing to do with OpenAI and Anthropic models. AI tools, for all kinds of purposes, are too numerous beyond what can be actively pre-tested or evaluated, by the US or UK AI safety institute. The pharmaceutical industry in most countries ensure that…

By David Stephen Sedona, AZ — Contents [from] which base AI models were trained, by contemporary creators of varying categories, with an expectation that their contents would be monetized, may have one possible option, amid others, for [how] AI companies may compensate for what they used: promotion. There are several base AI models, where the contents of several creators were used. This means that it is beyond just a few companies, but several of them, across continents. Some AI companies are making deals with major content companies, while there might be explorations for creators at other stages. However, compensating for…
… mid afternoon today I headed down to the ponds before doing my shopping at Bashas for eggnog, geez I love that stuff, cut it 50/50 with whole milk to make it last a little longer and Thanksgiving through New Years is the only time they seem to sell it. By Bear Howard Bear Howard Chronicles Sedona, AZ — made the mistake of going out to pick up a few things from Bashas on Saturday afternoon, December 28. Dumb move, I should have known better. I thought, “No big deal, I’ll just get in and out of Bashas, grab my stuff, and head home.” But wait a minute – the line wasn’t just at the light. It was now stretching all the…
By Tommy Acosta Sedona, AZ — Stoned. Drunk. Wasted. Pickled. Trashed. Messed Up. Buzzed. Smashed. Hammered. Plastered. Tanked. Lit. Sloshed. Drugged. Loaded. Sauced: These are just a few of the many words we use to describe one who is under the influence. But why is it that people feel the need to escape reality by ingesting alcohol or drugs? What drives this seemingly universal thirst for relief? Every day, we’re inundated with headlines about the latest cocaine or fentanyl bust, as government agencies assure they’re working tirelessly to eradicate illegal drugs from society. Yet, the use of legal substances—those prescribed…
By David Stephen Sedona, AZ — Why is it easier, in general, to eat than to exercise? How does the mind determine when a function is ready, or its level of operation or completion in an instance? Conceptually, there are configurations for various functions of internal senses, defining the limits and the extents of their activities from the mind. This means that the ways they function are principally determined by the arrangements [or measures] of the components of mind. So, if an individual is appetitive or has other sensations in the body, it indicates that there is a specific arrangement…
By Amaya Gayle Gregory Will you celebrate life, your life, right now, right here, exactly as it appears? You can do what you’re going to do and still celebrate. What’s on your list of wrongs to right, of failures to turn into success? What can’t you forgive? Who stands center stage in your suspect parade? They will still be here. They aren’t going…
