    ADOT: Winter Storm Road Updates

    logo azdot Flagstaff AZ (March 19, 2012) – ADOT crews are fully deployed in response to this winter storm, removing snow and ice from the roadways.

    Flagstaff District Update, 2:30PM:

    All highways in the Flagstaff area are open and passable. ADOT crews were able to break through the snow drifts on US 180 and the highway is now open.

    Flagstaff District Update, 9:30AM:

    • ADOT crews are opening eastbound I-40 at this time. I-17 and I-40 are now fully open, however, winter driving conditions are still present. US 180 is closed between Kendrick Park (west of the Snowbowl) and the State Route 64 junction, due to drifting snow.

    Flagstaff District Update, March 19, 6:00AM:

    • Eastbound Interstate 40 closed between the SR 89 junction (near Ash Fork) and Flagstaff. The eastbound I-40 closure ends at Williams (milepost 185). Westbound I-40 is open to traffic along that same stretch.
    • A 30-mile stretch of State Route 87 closed in both directions north of Payson.
    • US 180 closed northwest of the Snow Bowl turnoff to the State Route 64 junction.
    All other highways in the region are open at this time, but snow is still falling and winter driving conditions are present.     Flagstaff District Update, March 18, 2:45PM: Heavy snowfall in the last hour has forced the closure of Interstate 40, in both directions, between Ash Fork (milepost 146) and Winslow. US 180 remains closed west of Snowbowl to Valle. All other highways in the region are open at this time, but snow is still falling and winter driving conditions are present. ADOT reminds drivers to use extra caution and prepare for driving in winter conditions. Winter driving tips and other useful information may be found on our website at http://www.azdot.gov/knowsnow.

    Flagstaff District Update, 11:30AM:

    • Eastbound I-40 has reopened at the junction of US 93. Westbound I-40 remains open.
    • I-17 remains open in both directions.
    • US 180 remains closed west of Snowbowl to Valle.
    • State Route 260 has reopened, east of Camp Verde to State Route 87.
    • State Route 87 has reopened between the junction of State Route 260 and Clint’s Well (milepost 290).
    • SR 87 remains closed from Clint’s Well to Winslow.

    Roadways in the Flagstaff area are snowpacked and icy and motorists are advised to use extra caution.     • State Route 87 is closed from the junction of State Route 260 at Cinch Hook Hill (milepost 278) to Winslow.
    • State Route 260 is closed from east of Camp Verde (milepost 228) to State Route 87.

    • I-40 is closed in both directions from US 93 to Winslow.
    • US 180 is closed north of Snowbowl to Valle.

    What Would I Change?

    What would I change if I could? You and I both know I can’t, but it’s a fun exercise anyway. I would have been less of a know-it-all on my spiritual journey. It seems to be a side-effect of the path. Spiritual folks develop an all-knowing buffer to protect against their inevitable surrender to the unknown, but understanding that now didn’t make it gentler on me or those I loved, let alone those that I deemed not capable of getting it 😉 Yeah … I’d have dropped the spiritual snob act. I’d have recognized that spiritual radicals are only different on the outside from radical right Christians, and that the surface doesn’t really matter as much as I thought. We are all doing our couldn’t be otherwise things, playing our perfect roles. I’d have learned to bow down humbly before my fellow man, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. We’re all in this together and not one of us will get out alive. Read more→
