… Katie has pretty well adjusted to her new home and in fact has taken control of our home. I am now in serious negotiations with her to insure that I will be allowed to stay here … with a very special look on her face she reminded me that she knows where I sleep and that she is a fierce predator … she also reminded me that she is in touch with other creatures of prey and I might not be safe anywhere! The whole discussion was sparked today when I came home without another cat tree.

She has two brand new cat trees and wanted a third and possibly a fourth one. I headed into town around noon today and quickly discovered that traffic was not moving; it took me 48 minutes to travel 4.5 miles and in one stretch I traveled less than 100′ in ten minutes so with at least another 45 minutes to make the drive to Pet Smart, I turned around and came home to face the music.

Katie is settling in beautifully and is a joy to have around and since she is strictly an indoor cat she gets all the cat trees she wants and she loves them.

Have a wonderful Labor Day and celebrate all the contributions made to our country by those who work for a living and have made our nation the greatest nation on the planet. It takes work to build a nation and methinks it takes even more work to keep it great.

    Smile, you are here!

Though I know I shall sometime no more open
my eyes to the night or the day,

I am one who looks at the stars when unchained from
    the work-bench at nightfall.

They are a sign that I am not ephemeral, nor you, nor
    you, whoever you are.

The dawn comes and the dark and the sign sparkling
in the brooding night forever and forever.
