City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ  (April 5, 2012) – The Sedona Wetlands project at the Wastewater Treatment Plant has received help recently from the Audubon Society and local volunteers.  On Thursday, March 29, volunteers cut poles from existing cottonwood and willow trees around the plant site and prepped them for water absorption.  The poles were then placed in the ponds to soak until they could be planted.

The filling of four ponds has been completed and the remaining two ponds will be finished on Monday, April 9.

Construction of the wetlands was approved by City Council last October.  Planting enhances the transpiration value of the wetlands, which in turn increases the value of the wetlands for effluent management as well as for wildlife habitat.

For more information, please contact Kelly Parlin, Wastewater Superintendent, at 204-7135.
