Jerome AZ (March 27, 2012) – Gallery 527 welcomes spring with a flourish of vernal equinox inspired art . The vibrant landscapes and poetry of Susan Pitcairn will headline “Celebrating Spring,” opening at Jerome’s First Saturday Art Walk, April 7, 5-8 p.m. at Gallery 527, 527 Main St. A regular in the Sedona Plein Air Festival and faculty member of the Sedona Arts Center, Pitcairn is known for her painterly oils, pastels and acrylics. This show expresses the spirit of renewal in the flowers and leafings of the Southwestern spring. Pitcairn will also read from her books of paintings and poems, “The Poetry of Place” and “To Befriend Eternity,” available for signing at the opening. The performance will begin at 6:30. Since moving to Sedona in 2006, the award-winning artist has presented six inspirational art and poetry exhibits at the Sedona Arts Center. She also writes an active blog on art, poetry, science and nature at www.susanpitcairn.com. Her paintings hang in collections from Italy to New Zealand. Earlier, she co-authored the best-selling Dr. Pitcairn’s Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats (Rodale Press, 1981), now in its third edition with over half a million copies sold.
