City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (May 20, 2020) – The city of Sedona is working with the community to create Sedona’s first Climate Action Plan and needs your feedback.

In Sedona, climate change is impacting temperatures, water availability and wildfire risk. These changes threaten Sedona’s natural resources, economy, infrastructure and quality of life.

The Climate Action Plan will be a road map that identifies actions that the community will take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. Sedona’s plan will help build resilience to risks like flooding, wildfires and extreme heat.

In light of COVID-19, the city will be conducting the planning process virtually and asks that community members participate by joining an upcoming virtual open house and/or filling out an online community survey. Input from the open houses and survey will help inform the ultimate vision, goals and actions of the Plan.

The public is encouraged to attend a virtual open house on one of the following dates:

    • Monday, June 8, 2020 from 4:30 – 5:45 p.m.
    • Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 10 – 11:15 a.m.
    • Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m.

A final draft of the Plan is estimated to be completed in late fall 2020 and will be presented to City Council for approval soon-after.

The online survey will be open until June 18, 2020. To take it, sign up for a virtual open house or find more information on the Climate Action Plan, visit www.sedonaaz.gov/climate. If you have any questions, please contact McKenzie Jones, city of Sedona sustainability coordinator at mjones@sedonaaz.gov.

      1-eliminate plastic bags
      2- install electrical charging stations
around town. Example, the new parking structure in Up Town.
3 -Post “no idling” signs around town
4.-Encourage energy efficient homes by discounting building permits.
      5.-Encourage smaller homes.
      6.-Provide fee ebikes around town
7.-Increase fees on excessive water use

They will need to hire a Climate Director, A climate Manager, an Assistant Climate Manager and A Climate Communications Director. They will all need secretaries, car and phone allowances.

      Idiocy.

Wait, Wait, I have a solution to help Sedona’s climate !!! Ban all tourists!!

I’ll send a bill for my standard $250,000 consulting fee. That’s what the City of Sedona normally pays consultants.

Tony no wonder why you lost the election by a 3-1 margin. Your so so angry and you now live in Cornville . Tell the truth how do you now enjoy your higher property taxes since you moved? Better start a cornville biz to straighten that place out LOL

Give serious consideration to putting ‘NO IDLING ‘ signs
In parking areas around town. Copy what they’ve done
In Grand Canyon National Park, Niagara Falls State Park,
NYC, & a growing list of cities & towns across America.
Not everyone has an electric car now but everyone can
turn off their engine while parked.
We have a brief moment of rarified, clean air & this simple,
needed gesture will help keep unnecessary CO2 out
      Of our atmosphere.

The town could use some electric car chargers too.
