Just received this report.
” Traffic and parking on Soldiers Pass is getting worse. It is like a pack of stupid California locusts have descended …. “
The report continued with this brief… on March 29, 2020 traffic was backed up because some hikers were walking three abreast in the road.
Not only is this stupid but in addition we have uncaring arrogant nerds present.
We better get no parking signs plus safe pedestrian walking trails installed next to Soldiers Pass and other Sedona roads quickly so that no one is killed by these and others of the locust breeds.
Some city counsel members are aware and are trying hard to solve this problem. Not all are though.
Can we urge them on and maybe save a life.

In addition to hiking, Sedona, with equal disregard for planning and management, has successfully encouraged bike enthusiasts to visit. Hikers park their cars/trucks/RVs in the bike lanes on Soldiers Pass Rd., bikers are forced to ride on the road, and traffic is forced to go around the bikers into oncoming traffric around the twists and turns of Soldiers Pass Rd. And, yes, the traffic problem continues to increase in volume.
Good news Karen. I learned today that no parking signs are up and swarms of police cars patrolling SP too. I no longer regularly use SP.
Hope this is followed by roadside safe trails soon. We’ll see.

Since there are so many people still coming from out of state or from large metropolitan cities like Phoenix and Tucson into Sedona all of which are disregarding the present edict to shelter at home, perhaps it is time to have the police place roadblocks at the scenic overlook that’s just inside the city limits on Hwy 179.
Another roadblock at the overlook at the top of the switch backs and the third one at the sewage treatment plant.
Any vehicle with out-of-state plates would have to turn around and those with Arizona plates would have to show that they are a resident of Sedona. If they are not, they would also have to turn around and go back home.

thanks for your hate-filled message, Sedona not your private domain. Dale, Sedona sits on two states highways and people need to travel, “it is not a crime to travel” it would be unconstitutional to stop people from traveling, you’re commenting is way out of line. The governor designated hotels can stay open as essential.
We have people staying with us from Phoenix who cannot stay home because of elderly parents or because their spouses are doctors, and they were asked to stay in place elsewhere.
Just worry about yourself and stay home 6 feet away from other people don’t be so hateful and self-righteous, A Californian was accosted at a local market this week for driving without of state plates this is not the Sedona I know and love.

Hateful sure is not you.
He never recognized that safety and possibly lives were at stake with the cars parked actually on the Soldier Pass asphalt pavement thereby obstructing line of sights for drivers. City council did. As did so many residents using Soldiers Pass.
Segner often speaks up even on issues in which he is not informed.

I don’t often agree with Steve Segner, but he’s right on. It is not against the law to travel. We are living with tyranny right now.
Archie, as to Segner’s writing style, almost every time he submits a letter he argues only for the sake of just being negative. And always and about as often Segner has no idea what the subject matter happens to be.
That snarky remark to Dale on Mayo and the off ramp is typically the ugliness showing up with unhappy folks behaving like Segner .
In this case everybody knows what the subject is – safety on Soldiers Pass. City engineering and the counsel sure did as well as Dale Casey plus do all the hundreds of residents in 3 big subdivisions located west of the road using the road regularly.
Well Steve, if you manage to read this, do you now comprehend the subject ???
