logo USFS USDASedona AZ (March 3, 2012) – Two popular recreation sites on the Red Rock Ranger District will be temporarily closed March 12 & 13 to allow for reconstruction work to take place.

First, the Jim Thompson and Jordon Trailhead will be closed March 12-13. This 48-hour closure will allow for the installation of a drainage culvert at the entrance to the trailhead. Installation of the drainage culvert will help to reduce soil erosion and to enhance the area for continued public enjoyment.

Secondly, the Fossil Creek Road (FR 708) will be temporarily closed March 13, east of the junction with the Childs Road (FR 502). This 24-hour closure is necessary to allow for the installation of an access gate for future management within the Fossil Creek area.

For public and employee safety, please avoid these construction areas during these temporary closures. No vehicles will be allowed access into the area during construction. For more information concerning this project, please contact the Red Rock Ranger District at (928) 203-7500.
