City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (February 8, 2012) – Sedona Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer two unique workshops for those in our community that are interested in learning to play a musical instrument.  Let Instructor Craig Coffman guide you through the steps of learning to play a guitar and a piano.

Some music teachers may not want you to know this, but you don’t need years of weekly lessons to learn piano. In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. How do we do it? While regular piano teachers teach note reading, piano professionals use chords. And, you can learn all the chords you’ll need to play any song in this one session. Any song. Any style. Any key. If you can find middle C and know the meaning of “Every Good Boy Does Fine”, you already know enough to enroll in this workshop.  The Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People workshop will be held Monday, February 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Sedona Teen Center located in Posse Grounds Park, 525-B Posse Ground Road. The $25 registration fee must be paid in advance by registering with Parks and Recreation.  In addition, there is a $28 materials fee for the workbook and practice DVD collected in class by the instructor. Everything covered in class is also covered on this DVD, which is designed for home practice and study.

Have you ever wanted to learn the guitar but simply find it difficult to find the time? In just a few hours you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you years of musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it. This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away.  Bring your acoustic guitar along for the ride.  The Instant Guitar for Hopelessly Busy People workshop will be held Monday, February 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Recreation Room at Posse Grounds Park.  The $25 registration fee must be paid in advance at the Parks and Recreation office. The instructor will collect the $28 materials fee for the workbook and practice DVD in class. Everything covered in class is also covered on this DVD, which is designed for home practice and study.

    Beatles Tribute at Blazin’ M

I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
