    Flagstaff Runner Brian Tinder wins 7th Annual Sedona Marathon

    logo sedmarathonSedona AZ (February 5, 2012) – More than 2000 runners raced through the beautiful red rocks of Sedona this morning for the 7th Annual Sedona Marathon.   Runner Brian Tinder of Flagstaff, Arizona took an early lead and finished the Sedona Marathon in first place with a time of 2:54:04.  Hank Risley of Cedar Springs Michigan took second with a time of 2:58:40 and Gary Krugger also of Flagstaff took third with a time of 3:12:03.

    In the Women’s Division Lara Schick from Kutztown, Pennsylvania took first with a time of 3:23:42 and current Sedona Marathon Women’s Division course record holder Sherry Christoff of Sedona, AZ took second running 3:29:17. Lindsay Plas of Cottonwood, Arizona was third with a time of 3:42:21.

    In the half-marathon Men’s Division Runners from Northern Arizona dominated.  In the Men’s division the overall winner was Trevor Johannsen from Grand Canyon, AZ with a time of 1:21:36, closely followed by Chino Valley Runner J.P. Jackson who had a time of 1:24:41 Third place finisher was Dominic Tosi of Flagstaff whose time was 1:25.20 .

    In the Women’s division Randi Simon of Prescott Valley Arizona came in a full five minutes in front of her closes competitor with a time of 1:26:51.  She was followed by Kathleen Pryor of Phoenix Arizona who had a time of 1:32:21 and Megan  of Lincoln, Nebraska whose time was 1:33:47.

    Benjamin Belisle of South Jordan, UT won the men’s division of the 10K with a time of 39:39.  Second place was Lance Williams of Tuba City, AZ with a time of 41:02.  Andrew Harrington of Flagstaff with a time of 43:03.

    The 10k Woman’s Division was taken by Tia Acetta of Tuscon AZ with a time of 40:14.  2nd Place was Elyse James of Cornville AZ with a time of 43:01 and twelve year old Allyson Arellano of Cottonwood, AZ.

    The 5K Men’s Division’s first place winner was Aaron Biah of Flagstaff, AZ with a time of 18:09.  Biah was followed by Brandon Snickers  of  Cornville whose time was 18:26. Bryant Jensen of Flagstaff, AZ took third with a time of 18:28.

    In the women’s division Mykala Seresun of Sedona took first with a time of 19:38.  Katherine Phillips of Tucson, AZ took second with a time of 20:06 and Eve Wilson of Sedona took third with a time of 21:18.

    The 7th Annual Sedona Marathon was produced by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce.
