Sedona AZ (April 16, 2019) – The Parks and Recreation Department needs a short-term volunteer familiar with the native plants of Arizona. The volunteer’s task is to help the Sedona Volunteer Park Rangers update plant identification signs at the city’s Botanical Park, Sunset Park and Posse Grounds Park.
The volunteer doesn’t have to be a botanist, just a hobbyist with a good knowledge of Arizona’s flora. The job is expected to take about 10 hours, and days and hours are flexible.
Parks and Recreation Manager Rachel Murdoch says the the signs in the three parks are due some maintenance. “Some of the interpretive signs are misplaced or new species have replaced the original plantings,” she says. “Replacing them would be a fun project. While the park rangers are familiar with Sedona’s native plants, a volunteer with more expertise can ensure that signs are placed correctly.”
