… the crater, that is. Every once in a while I do a dedicated flight with the sole purpose of photographing a single site and on this day I spent about an hour photographing Strawberry Crater which is located NE of Flagstaff … maybe twenty five or so miles and there is ground access to it via a road (FR 540 ). Directly above Strawberry is O’Leary Peak, to the left of that and behind it you can see Mt. Elden and to the right and behind the San Francisco Peaks with Mt. Humphreys on the far right of them; on the horizon far right is Kendrick peak and you can see the distinctive triangular peak on it. Not sure what the ones to the left of Kendrick are … must be some smaller cones close to the peaks and probably look larger than they are because I was at 6990’ msl which has me looking up hill to where they are.
Strawberry Crater is only 6,526’ msl and rises about 500’ above the surface and was formed by eruptions around 800 B.C. and 1640 B.C. so it is a fairly recent volcano. Some very interesting facts about the cone and the history at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry_Crater .
A quiet day with light rain for most of it … mostly enjoyed looking out at the weather today and a few other projects received limited attention. Sunny tomorrow and perhaps a flight into some cleaner air … that would be nice.

In addition to sales of photographs already taken Ted does special shoots for patrons on request and also does air-to-air photography for those who want photographs of their airplanes in flight. All special photographic sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
