City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (June 1, 2018) – In an effort to protect Oak Creek from pollutants, and as part of administering the Stormwater Quality Management Program, the city of Sedona Public Works Department is requesting public comment on their Stormwater Management Program (SWMP). This public outreach also helps maintain compliance with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

The Stormwater Quality Management Program carries out what is detailed in the SWMP, which identifies steps the city will take to enhance the quality of stormwater draining from its stormwater system. The SWMP also addresses activities that may result in stormwater pollution from construction sites, existing developments, government agencies, and residents or tourists. The plan does not, however, deal with the volume of water the system handles.

“We value the public input we receive from residents on stormwater management and will use it in future SWMP updates,” said Michael Righi, assistant engineer.

The SWMP is available on the city website at SedonaAZ.gov by using the search term “stormwater.”

Comments need to be submitted by June 30 to the Public Works Department at 102 Roadrunner Dr. or via e-mail to Michael Righi at MRighi@SedonaAZ.gov.
