NOW, THEREFORE, I, SANDY MORIARTY, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SEDONA, ARIZONA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL do proclaim Saturday, April 28, 2018 as “Sedona Public Library Day” in the City of Sedona and offer our best wishes as the Sedona Public Library celebrates its 60thanniversary.

The Sedona Public Library is celebrating 60 years of commitment to community on Saturday, April 28 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Library, 3250 White Bear Road, Sedona.  Free and open to the public, the event features guest speakers who will share the Library’s vision for the future, poetry, live music featuring Red RockAppella, and an exhibit on the library’s history.  Following a short program, the Friends of the Sedona Library will serve refreshments.

In addition, renderings for the planned remodeling of the interior space of the Library will be on display.   Guests can view the plans and provide feedback on the proposed renovation that includes additional meeting rooms and individual work space units.

The event kicks off an art sale of donated works, including several by Laura Woolschlager and Michael L. Coleman.  All proceeds benefit the Library and the sale will continue until the art is sold.

The Friends of the Sedona Library, incorporated in 1967, continue to support the Library. In 2017, they opened a used book store in property provided by the Library. The Friends’ entire inventory of books and other materials are now available year round right next door to the Library.  The Friends will hold a store-wide ½ price sale at their used book store on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. each day.

Sedona Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is funded through the support of the City of Sedona, Yavapai and Coconino Counties, businesses and foundations, and individual contributions.
