logo_USFS_USDASedona AZ (August 24, 2017) – The Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest has prepared a preliminary environmental assessment (EA) for the Tobias-Flynn Private Land Access Project for public review and comment.

This project involves a proposal to allow construction, operation and maintenance of an access road on Coconino National Forest land to provide access to a 27-acre parcel of private land along Oak Creek, near Oak Creek Cliffs Drive in Sedona. Alternatives include access from the east side of Oak Creek, as well as access from the west side that would include the construction of a bridge.

This project had an EA released for review in 2011, and the current document has been updated based on public comments received at that time and current conditions.

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 at Yavapai College Sedona Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Community Room (Room 34). The purpose of this meeting is to share information and answer questions about the Environmental Assessment, which includes a number of alternatives and a preliminary assessment of the effects of each alternative. Yavapai College is located at 4215 Arts Village Dr., Sedona, Ariz., 86336. There will be a brief presentation to summarize the process and alternatives at about 6:15 p.m.  The rest of the meeting will be an open house format.

The preliminary EA along with information on how to submit comments is available on-line:https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=15870. Under the Project Documents section, please click on the Analysis tab to view the draft EA and its associated documents. The preliminary EA and supporting documentation is also available for review at the Red Rock Ranger District Office (weekdays excluding federal holidays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 8375 State Route 179, Sedona, Ariz., 86341).

For questions about the meeting and this project, please contact Judy Adams at 928-203-7506 or by email atjadams05@fs.fed.us.
