logo_runningriverschoolSedona AZ (March 27, 2017) – Running River School, Sedona’s only Waldorf grade school, wants to inform citizens of Sedona and the Verde Valley about the Arizona Tax Credit Program, reminding them that they can choose where their tax dollars go, hoping the nonprofit 501(c)3 could be considered a beneficiary.

Running River School sprang from a group of devoted parents desiring to create a place where parents and teachers work together to offer children hands-on, integrative educational opportunities that support the whole child. An extensive art program, outdoor opportunities, life skills such as gardening, cooking and handwork, as well as field trips go hand-in-hand with traditional academic subjects to create a comprehensive model for excellence.

In order for RRS to thrive, the independent grade school initiative depends on programs such as the private school tax credit where ninety-percent (90%) or more of the donation goes directly to tuition scholarships allowing children in need to attend schools of their choice.

A “tax credit donation” is different from a “tax deductible donation” in that its net cost to a person is zero. Additionally, the private school tax credit program reduces what a person owes in Arizona State taxes up to $2,177 (filing married) or $1,089 (filing single) for 2017. At the same time, the private school tax credit program does not take funds away from public schools.

If a person pays Arizona income tax, or have been paying it throughout the year, they’re eligible to be a donor and are able to recommend a specific school or student to receive tuition assistance. These same citizens and taxpayers can donate to more than one tax credit, benefitting private schools and other causes of their choice.

The deadline for these tax credits is April 18, so consider assisting a local school. Choose where tax dollars go to work. See the benefits by providing tuition assistance to children attending Running River School.
