… I’m catching up and remembering all the techniques I use in faceting … I’ve restarted the stone three times now and think this time we’ll get it done without further shrinkage and I’m glad that my first stone this time around is a relatively inexpensive (but beautiful) laser ruby. Since after the first shot at it, my redo’s have been in thousandths of an inch the loss is not great, just the pain in realizing you pooched it again and have to start over. Should be polishing the pavilion in the morning, transfer the stone and start cutting the crown tomorrow too. All the little tricks, use of the cheater (adjusts indexing of the stone ever so slightly) and all the other things are flooding back. Fun!
Also I needed to catch up with One who is standing on Coal Mine Mesa waiting for me to catch up with her. She is standing on linear sand dunes which form in this manner because most of the time you get strong winds from the same direction. The sand originates in the Little Colorado River which is about ten miles in the direction that One is looking. When the river is flowing (not that often) it brings sand, and dirt washing down from the desert and when it dries out the winds pick the sand up from the river bed and blow it up to the NE for miles and miles. Above One’s head and near the right side you can see a portion of Coal Mine Canyon and on the horizon Navajo Mountain.
Been listening to the Everly Brothers music tonight; Corky and I saw them live a couple of times … first time was in Minneapolis. One of my High School Classmates had started a nightclub featuring top entertainment and the Everly brothers were among the first acts he booked. Fun times!
It was a terrific weekend and we’re into a new week again. Have a beautiful day and share smiles with those whom you meet and greet … makes everyone’s day a little better and since we are not here for all that long, better to spread cheer than not.
Keep breathing too … makes the day a whole lot more enjoyable.
