      Everyone who reads this should read Ron Vernasoni’s letter to editor above.

      All his comments and solutions are on target. When the costs of a fire are calculated, I hope they include not only the firefighting and commercial losses, but the health costs for us all in the surrounding areas.

      When fire danger is deemed ‘high’ outdoor work that may create sparks should be limited; trail access must be restricted and fires of any kind not permitted, not only for the forest preservation, but for human safety too. Loved the comment – visit, but leave matches behind. Obviously USFS has the power, but is deferring to the commercial interests.

      For those of us who live here, living off tourism alone is a dangerous game.
