    SciTech Festival Expo Highlights Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in Verde Valley

    logo_arizonascitechClarkdale AZ (March 19, 2014) – The Yavapai College Verde Valley campus hosts the Verde Valley SciTech Festival Expo on Friday, March 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. The Expo, which is free and open to the public, is an extension of the statewide Arizona SciTech Festival, held annually in February and March. The event celebrates science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and features a variety of exhibitions, workshops, expos and tours across the state to underscore how STEM will influence Arizona for the next century.

    20140319_SciTech-12x18-VV-Poster5“The expo will showcase student projects, businesses and industries whose products and services include STEM education and skills,” said James Perey, dean of the Yavapai College Verde Valley campus. “This event is aimed at informing the community about the exciting things that are happening in and around STEM in the Verde Valley. This event will benefit visitors by helping them understand how these concepts pertain to their everyday lives. Join us in this is a wonderful opportunity educate and celebrate STEM in the Verde Valley.”

    In addition to the Expo on Friday, signature events take place throughout the Verde Valley March 24-30, including The Science of Avionics, the Verde Valley Archaeology Fair, and a scavenger hunt at Montezuma Well. For a complete list of events, go online to www.vvscitech.org/cal.

    The Verde Valley SciTech Festival also features a passport program, whereby attendees can win prizes.  Pick up a passport at any of the events. Earn six punches, and you can submit your passport to be entered to win one of several prizes, including an iPad mini, Nexus 7 tablets and more.

    Spearheaded by the Arizona Commerce Authority, Arizona Science Center, the Arizona Technology Council Foundation, Arizona Board of Regents, Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, the Arizona SciTech Festival is a collaboration of over 450 organizations in industry, academia, arts, civic, community and K-12 education.
