logo_sedonamuseumSedona AZ (February 13, 2014) – Billed as “The Return of Angel and the Badman Gala & Show”, the Sedona Heritage Museum will host Sedona’s social event of the season with a gala dinner on Saturday, March 15, 5:00 p.m. at Reds at the Sedona Rouge Hotel.

This evening to remember begins with a happy hour and silent auction. After dinner, the “˜Duke’ will ride again when Ermal and Patsy Williamson take the stage. Ermal is a nationally-known John Wayne re-enactor with great stories and the spooky likeness, sound and mannerisms of John Wayne. His wife Paula Cravens is a U.S. Champion yodeler who will entertain guests with a repertoire of Patsy Cline hit songs.

20140213_Teloff-HallermundsThe evening will end with a live auction of fabulous packages and experiences, including a trip to Belize, Diamondbacks box seats, other travel packages, golf packages and a behind-the-scenes tour of Out of Africa. Silent auction items include donations of art, jewelry, and dining experiences to name just a few. A “˜Raise the Paddle’ live auction activity is also planned. All attendees will receive a commemorative program and opportunities to be immortalized in a photo with “˜John Wayne’. Suggested attire is Western casual, but not required.

Proceeds of the event will go toward the Museum’s latest major project, the relocation and preservation of the only surviving part of the historic Sedona western town movie set. This 100-year-old Telegraph Office building was used in key scenes of “˜Angel and the Badman’, Wayne’s first effort as Producer and actor back in 1945-46. This piece of Sedona movie history was donated to the Museum by a generous benefactor.

Gala tickets are $100/person ($60 may be a charitable tax deduction), and are available by calling the Sedona Heritage Museum at 928-282-7038, or going to the Museum’s website http://www.sedonamuseum.org/. Seating is limited!

For anyone interested in placing a program ad, donating an auction item, or being an event or overall project sponsor, contact Dave Thomas at the Museum.

Annually, the Museum hosts thousands of residents, visitors and school children who are introduced to Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon’s rich and unique history. The addition of this historic movie set building will allow the sharing and interpretation of Sedona’s long and colorful movie history.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
