[SEDONA/VERDE VALLEY, AZ] Unify Sedona Verde Valley and the Sedona International Film Festival invite the community to a special Pride Month premiere screening of documentary The Dads on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre in Sedona.
Inspired by the Emmy Award-winning short documentary of the same name, The Dads follows a community of fathers of transgender and nonbinary children as they navigate the challenges of supporting their families amid a growing wave of anti-transgender legislation and social division in the United States.
Filmed over the course of a year, the documentary captures intimate moments of family life, personal reflection, advocacy, and resilience. Through powerful storytelling and firsthand accounts, viewers witness fathers choosing love, understanding, and connection in the face of uncertainty and change.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Luchina Fisher and executive produced by former NBA star and LGBTQ+ advocate Dwyane Wade, The Dads offers a moving portrait of parenthood, courage, and the enduring bonds of family.
“One of the most powerful ways we build community is by listening to each other’s stories,” said Jan Montgomery, President of Unify Sedona Verde Valley. “The Dads film reminds us that behind every issue are real people and real families. Through understanding, empathy, and meaningful dialogue, we can create communities where everyone feels they belong.”
The screening is part of Unify Sedona Verde Valley’s 2026 Pride Month Film Series, presented in partnership with the Sedona International Film Festival. The series seeks to foster greater understanding, celebrate diversity, and create opportunities for community connection through the power of storytelling.
