… A friend and I headed down to Bubbling Ponds in Page Springs this morning to check it out again and this time we were greeted by a male Belted Kingfisher and I got him from takeoff to landing across the pond on a pipe fixture. Check that landing out … everything is happening at once as he dumps speed presenting the undersides of each wing perpendicular to the line of flight, feet ready to grasp the slippery metal landing pipe and in about .05 of a second he was at rest having executed a perfect landing … the kind you hope your pilot in a commercial airliner will make!
In the photo below I got the shot as he crossed the pond on his way to the landing he made above … funny how you can go months without seeing a Kingfisher or some other bird and then you get a period of time where you see them frequently and in the case of this guy, he wanted to play and hung out close to us allowing us to get many great shots of him. Got some shots of waterfowl too, Black Phoebes and several other species, but these were clear winners.
Time to wrap the day and get some rest before beginning the day I am already in … methinks it shall be a very good day … here, breathing and smiling!

In addition to sales of photographs already taken Ted does special shoots for patrons on request and also does air-to-air photography for those who want photographs of their airplanes in flight. All special photographic sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
Ted also does one-on-one workshops for those interested in learning the techniques he uses. By special arrangement Ted will do one-on-one aerial photography workshops which will include actual photo sessions in the air.
