… an incredible morning at Lynx Lake, near Prescott this morning … on the road down to the lake we saw an Abert’s squirrel by the side of the road so I pulled over, the squirrel took off for one of the very tall ponderosa pines. By the time I got my camera out he had climbed up to about the 75 foot level in the tree which was in a deep valley and almost even with me, maybe 200 feet away. Eric spotted him and I got some great shots … I have been trying to get a shot of this squirrel for months and so glad to get my first shots of one:-) They live almost exclusively in Ponderosa Pine forests.

Below is a shot of a drake Gadwall taking off from Lynx Lake … the shot shows him as he is just finishing his jump and smashing his wings into the water to propel him into the air … this is about 1/20th of a second from when he was at rest on the water. There is nothing as great as shooting wildlife from a boat … pretty much eye level.

Have a beautiful day … choose to enjoy it and share a smile with those you meet and greet today.

    Cheers,

    Ted

Come you who are weary, and sit in the shadow
of my faith; and when you are rested we shall
journey together, singing gleefully on the highway,
lending many a hand, yet passing ever on and on; and
at nightfall, tired and content, we shall light the candles
in the house of love, thank God in cheerful words, and
    lie down to peaceful sleep.
