… there are times of conflict at the feeder in the pinion pine in our back yard and at times certain birds feel that the feeder and all the contents thereof are their personal property … they will chase the interloper out of the feeder and engage in aerial combat as they lay claim to their food. The photo above shows one house finch in an all out attack on the retreating finch … rather like a dog fight with planes from another era .. the peaceful nature of yet another species on full display!

The photograph below is of reflections in the water of Birch Lake in northern Wisconsin taken back in 2019 when I last was up there visiting. The water was glassy, but the wake of my boat caused the reflections to be segmented in a regular pattern … water lilies can be seen in the upper left corner 🙂

Patrick has put the information about my upcoming show on the Sedona Film Festival website. It is going to be a great show and will be in the Alice Gill-Sheldon theater on October 27th at 3:30 PM. Seating is limited to 44 installed seats, but we did manage to comfortably seat another six people earlier this year. There will only be one showing so I suggest you get your tickets early. Pat has suggested a frequency of my farewell shows (he says I have another seven to go) that I do one in the fall and another in the spring and that sounds like a good plan to me.

Into the weekend … keep breathing, smile and enjoy the people you meet and greet each day … life truly is fantastic and we are blessed in so many ways … for sure, I am and so are you!

    Cheers,

    Ted

To you who walk in shadows dark
    And keenly hark
For kindly words if but to live,
    Myself I give,
My life and all my heart and hand
    Here where I stand.
‘Tis thus that both our lives will grow
    I know.

I bring but this one common thought
    My life has wrought;
That from the dregs of drear despair
    Still everywhere
There is a joy I yet may sip—
    ‘Tis comradeship
With all mankind, the high and low
    I know.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
