… a true love has been making itself present in my thoughts lately and so I called my good friend Russ Hustead at Sky King Soaring and I’m thinking I may get checked out in one of his motor gliders so that I can get some fresh aerial photos to use in my presentation on October 27th … it would be good to be back up in the air again … maybe more days like when I would fly in the morning and be boating in the afternoon 🙂 If you have never had the thrill of flying in a glider or motor glider give Russ a call and check it out. There is nothing like it!
The theme of the presentation in October is going to be the best of 2024 and will include the whole gamut of photography that I do … airscapes, wildlife, abstracts. flowers and composites. It will be up on the Sedona Film Festival site in a couple of weeks. Between now and then I have my hands full with some commitments I can’t put off.
The photo above brings back a lot of fond memories … I was flying with Bob Thompson, one of my soaring buddies … he was a professor of geology and taught me to appreciate the beauty of the land I loved to fly over. Bob along with some other geologists including Roger Clark who was with the Grand Canyon Trust and Wayne Ranney taught me a great deal about the geology of Northern Arizona and many thanks go out to them for all the knowledge they passed on to me … Bob and I had flown up to Lake Powell, spent a couple of hours flying over the lake and getting some wonderful shots. We landed at Page, AZ to stretch our legs and get some refreshments before flying back to Sedona … that is me and my motor glider, Mariah, on the flight line just before we departed.
The shot below is one of the islands in the lake and with the shadow on the surface it gives the appearance of being suspended in liquid … or blue sky.
Up to Lake Mary in the morning to shoot dragon flies, wildlife and whatever else is there. Another opportunity to test my new cameras and get used to them … maybe even a good shot or three 🙂

In addition to sales of photographs already taken Ted does special shoots for patrons on request and also does air-to-air photography for those who want photographs of their airplanes in flight. All special photographic sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
Ted also does one-on-one workshops for those interested in learning the techniques he uses. By special arrangement Ted will do one-on-one aerial photography workshops which will include actual photo sessions in the air.
