Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Arctic Convoy” showing Aug. 23-29 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

“The Arctic Convoy” is inspired by true events.

In 1942, the leader of a convoy carrying vital military supplies to a Norwegian outpost decides to proceed through treacherous, enemy infested waters despite the recall of their military escort.

Fighting for their lives against German air and naval forces, the 35 civilian merchant ships brave brutal Arctic seas to bring much needed support to soldiers on the front lines in “The Arctic Convoy”.

“This film gives a recognizable face to the individual destinies behind all the statistics. The men and women who risked their lives in the fight for a free world, at a time in the war when the enemy might as well have emerged victorious,” said director Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken. “This is a film about some of the forgotten heroes of World War II.”

“The Arctic Convoy” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Aug. 23-29. Showtimes will be Friday, Sunday and Monday, Aug. 23, 25 and 26 at 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 27, 28 and 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.
