… hard to believe the beauty I have seen the past couple of days whilst spending my mornings on the lake and in search of … on the water about twenty minutes before six in the morning and off by nine thirty … ditto for the birds and other wildlife as the Arizona summer heat takes over the day … we all seek shelter and cooler places. Fish are near the surface and have not yet descended to deep waters.

The photo above shows a Great Egret that has just plucked a bit of breakfast from the waters and is headed back to shore to finish it off. The early morning light on him is beautiful.

First below is a shot of a Cattle Egret leaving his perch for places we are not. They are a very beautiful egret and one that is seldom seen in these parts.

Below the Cattle Egret is a pair of Great Blue Herons … the successful hunter is being challenged by one who doesn’t want to work for his own food and would rather take it from one who has worked for it … a behavior that cuts across every species! The heron with the fish did keep it and eventually the other heron did get his own food.

I started the day about twenty-five hours ago, time to end it and get some rest. Into the weekend … have a wonderful one … smile and keep breathing. Back Monday morning.

    Smiles,

    Ted

Though work bring nought of power
    nor wealth

Spare me from want of common needs,
And give a share of manly health,
A few good friends of honest deeds.

And till death’s peaceful slumber nears
    A life of undishonored years.
