… it was a remarkable day on the lake today and a location that remains a very closely guarded secret put on display a new addition to life on earth … a new Bald Eagle has recently been born and it is on display above as it is getting acquainted with life in the family nest. I do not know if there are others in the nest or not but will check it out more this week as I am heading down there again in the morning and Thursday morning too. It is a very long shot and may put the extender on it tomorrow and shoot at 1120mm zoom; this is at 800mm. Looks like it may have arrived a week or so ago … what say you, Michele?
The Great Horned Owl is back on her nest, and I suspect that her eggs will be hatching in a matter of days. What an exciting place it is in the spring … and everywhere across the northern hemisphere as life continues with new additions.
The shot below is of a Double Crested Cormorant and a White Pelican taking off side by side. Cormorants are a fairly good-sized bird, but it is dwarfed by the massive White Pelican and its eight-foot wingspan. I managed to run onto a sand shoal; a couple of hundred feet from shore. We got the shots though and that is what counts … then we poled off of it. The water level is rising about four inches a day now as they fill the lake with Arizona’s allotment from the Colorado River … Lake Pleasant is the primary reservoir for Colorado River water and fluctuates about 30 feet up and down during the course of the year.
Time to wrap the day and back down early in the morning again … heck, someone has to do it 🙂

In addition to sales of photographs already taken Ted does special shoots for patrons on request and also does air-to-air photography for those who want photographs of their airplanes in flight. All special photographic sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
Ted also does one-on-one workshops for those interested in learning the techniques he uses. By special arrangement Ted will do one-on-one aerial photography workshops which will include actual photo sessions in the air.
